The Christmas-thing-to-do among the kiddies these days is to have one of Santa's elves come from the North Pole to live with them until Christmas. A lot of the kids at school talk about their Elf Magic elf and A LOT have one. I've heard lots of mommies telling stories about their elves too. Natalie has been asking for an elf the past few weeks. I studied up on the craze and learned that the good-mommy-thing-to-do was to set-up this adoption. The elf was not easy to find but Jason finally tracked one down and Natalie, Jason and I went to adopt her Elf Magic elf on Saturday. An auburn-haired elf with pigtails named Emily chose to come live with us. The elf comes with a little container of snowflakes from the North Pole and they love water and crackers. Natalie sprinkles the elf with the little snowflakes at night before she goes to sleep to make the elf come alive. All the elves are very mischievous and go on adventures during the night, making messes around the house. They usually get caught in the act the next morning or they are hiding out and you have to find them. This happens every night until Christmas Eve, when Santa comes and takes the elf back with him to the North Pole until next year. Natalie spent the night off Saturday night so Emily did not have her first full night with us until Sunday night.
So far, Natalie's elf Emily has:
Sunday - She tied together two pieces of ribbon and tied knots along the length to make a rope ladder. She lassoed it to the top of the Christmas tree, climbed to the top, knocked off some ornaments, and Natalie found her the next morning hiding behind the star with the little ladder still going up the side of the tree.
Monday - Hung a bunch of hangers linked together from the living room ceiling fan, reaching all the way to the the floor almost, and was hanging upside down from one of the hangers. She also tied little pieces of ribbon from them and made snowflakes out of wrapping paper and hung them off the hangers.
Tuesday - Took all of Natalie's VHS movies off the shelf and built a mini-fort in the living room.
Wednesday - She put all of Natalie's panties in the refrigerator and Natalie found her there, wrapped up in undies!
One of Natalie's friends at school told her that if you write the elf a letter and put it in her bed, the elf will write you back on the reverse side of the letter while you are asleep. Natalie tested this out last night and sure enough, the elf wrote her back. Natalie asked her elf several questions and in response, her elf answered that she was 236 years old but that she was still a kid because elves live a very long time; that her favorite subject was toy-making, which is a subject they only have in the North Pole; that she loves it when Natalie sings her Christmas songs; that she was going to mess up her room last night but it was already too messed up and that she would not tell Santa just yet. She did recommend that Natalie clean her room up before Santa comes on Christmas because he's not a big fan of messes; and she also apologized for the messes she's made so far but said she was 'just having fun' and thanked Natalie for cleaning up the messes for her. Natalie loves her elf and is so excited each morning. Emily the elf has made Christmas especially fun this year.

Emily sounds like so much fun. My Natalie has an elf on the shelf named Criddle. We love to see what he gets himself into every morning. Hope you and your family have a great Christmas.
I am so glad you adopted an Elf. She has a great name by the way. Sounds like she is a roudy one. We will have to compare notes on Emily and Edward---I should really start a list of things he gets into for quick reference for other years.
It was great to see you too. Now that I have your blog, I'll be able to keep up with you.
Merry Christmas!
So glad you have some new ideas to help our elf magic! I am running out of them. By the way they love marshmallows....Merry Christmas!
